Keep Your Company Sharp
Two Lumberjacks set out into the woods to cut down x amount of trees. They were both given the same saw to use.Throughout the day lumberjack #1 would take a break after every hour. Lumberjack #2 wouldn’t take any breaks and continued on cutting as many trees as he could before the sun went down. Just about an hour before the sun went down, lumberjack #1 finished cutting down every tree in his area. Lumberjack #2 walks over to lumberjack #1 and asks, “How did you manage to finish cutting down all the trees before sunset while taking a break every hour? I never took a break and I’m still not done.” Lumberjack #1 reply’s, “I was sharpening my saw after every hour.”
The moral of the story is this. Rather than continuing to work with a blade, which had become blunt, you need to stop, sharpen your saw and then get back to cutting the tree. By doing this, Lumberjack #2 would have saved a lot of effort and got the job done a lot faster.
Make sure your business doesn’t get stuck on a rut. Step back and re-evaluate your vision and goals. Refine your process.
